No one will dispute the health benefits of drinking green tea. In fact it is often referred to as the healthiest drink one can have. It is rich in antioxidants and nutrients that benefit the body in numerous ways. According to Webmd, green tea has been shown to improve blood flow which benefits both the heart and the brain .Even knowing all of this it was difficult for me to drink green tea by itself because quite frankly, I don’t like the taste of straight green tea.
Oolong tea is also considered to be extremely beneficial for health due to its’ high antioxidant content as well as the vitamins and minerals it contains. The list of ailments that oolong tea is reputed to prevent or health benefits that it is said to enhance is a mile long and can easily be researched if one needs specifics. For my purposes it is sufficient to know that it is one of the healthier beverages that you can drink.
Black tea, the type most people are familiar with is likewise healthy due to the specific antioxidants it contains which includes polyphenols and catechins and it tastes great!
Somewhere along the way I decided to combine these three to create the most refreshing iced tea beverage I’ve ever tasted. It is the result of countless trials with various combinations. Finally about 5 years ago I arrived at this final perfect blend.Everyone who has ever tasted it has loved it and has urged me to share the recipe so I am obliging. It is absolutely delicious and I feel great after drinking it. I am going to share with you the exact method by which to make this and you can see for yourself. I am certain that you will find it a very refreshing drink that is by far healthier for you than any bottled iced tea drink that you could buy and a lot more economical as well.
The Most Refreshing Summer Beverage
3 green tea bags*
3 oolong tea bags*
3 black tea bags,( any brand you prefer)
juice of 1 lemon
juice of 1 lime
honey to taste
Place all 9 teabags in a teapot and add 5 cups of boiling water. Let steep about 15 minutes before removing teabags. Add honey to taste and stir well until honey is dissolved and mixed throughout. Add the juice of 1 lemon and 1 lime, fresh squeezed is best. Pour into a 64 ounce pitcher and fill to the top with cold water. Stir well and chill before serving. Since the goal was to create a healthy beverage I chose honey as the sweetener. Again, I’m sure everyone is familiar with the health benefits of honey. Also the addition of lemon and lime juice gave a further boost of nutrients but the resulting taste is amazing! Try it and let me know what you think!
